The first I will keep for myself:

Today was the first rainy day since I started my new job. Because it takes me 20 minutes to walk to work and I also walk home, I started coveting the girls who walked by in their galoshes. I have never owned a pair of rain boots, but then on my lunch break I saw this vintage pair with a neat top slouch and wraparound strap. And just my size!

Find #2:

This handbag is beaded with bakelite handles, and is in great condition. Turquoise and cream and gold. I’ll try to sell it online or consign it at the vintage clothing shop beside my store, as I will with the following two:

Shiny shiny! Gold clutch with ruffle.

Stripey ponyhair boots

All the locals say this store is crappy because they think it is “dirty and disorganized,” but such is a safe place for bad housekeepers, whereas the anesthetic Gap makes us a little nervous. And every time I visit I see items I think are gems. So this bad housekeeper gives an A to the Goodwill in Davis Square.

i happen to know that you still wear some anesthetic gap now and again….in particular, a striped sweater that is, oh, four or five years old, which prompted a customer at your store to exlaim “that’s vintage gap,” which proves that everyone should have a distaste for the adjective “vintage.”

DAMN! I always say “shoot me if you EVER see me in animal prints OR metallic ANYTHING,” but that purse or those boots could almost make me change my mind. Almost.

I hate cold feet, and bought a pair of ankle-high WOOL Danskos at my favorite consignment shop. My feet were warm and cozy all day yesterday, yay. I also purchased a $7 shimmery jewel-tone shower curtain, which is practically a bathroom makeover. My son assures me he hates it and it does not match the floor tiles. But he is wrong. And I bought my husband a wool tweed blazer, handsome and warm. For $4.

Want to make a trip to The Garment District sometime? Emily and I could meet you and wade through the cast-offs of the rich and famous…
